8 reasons to try small group travel
This post contains affiliate links. However, it is still my genuine opinion and I wouldn’t recommend what I don’t believe in.
Honestly, I had no idea small group travel was a thing until a year ago. But in my quest to try every type of vacation, I live and learn. And after a summer of small groups traveling together, I have to say I get it. I’ve written about all inclusive vacations, spontaneous adventures and RV travel before. So what do you get out of small group travel?
You meet interesting people from all over
During small group travel you will meet all kinds of people. In your group. Your guide and driver. Locals in your destination. And other travelers.
You establish a sense of community
Weather it is sitting around a fire at night, getting stuck in a snow storm together or preparing a meal together, you’ll come out with a sense of community. Like a two weeks team building exercise, just more fun.
You have somebody to share memories with if you are a solo traveler
Shared memories are always better. “Remember that time we…” is one of my favorite introductions to good stories.
You don’t have to worry about logistics
Because you get a guide who does that. No planning, no time keeping, no driving yourself, no rushing, minimal waiting times and no organization skills required from your side at all. Just relax and enjoy your vacation.
You get to experience so much in such a short time
You get around! Rather than staying in one place for your whole vacation, you get to see different places every day. So then you can decide where you want to come back to.
There is safety in groups
If you feel scared about traveling alone, having a group to join can give you the safety you’re looking for.

You learn about your destination
When traveling with a knowledgeable guide you can learn all kinds of things without having to read about it yourself.
You do your bit
By learning about other cultures and people you open your mind. You learn to respect them and that you don’t have to be afraid of what’s different. This cultural understanding is what we need to resolve the fear based hatred in our societies. You are contributing to a more peaceful world.

Intercultural competence is certainly not taught in schools, and as you said, it really is needed today. All levels of intolerance can be eradicated through travel and interaction! Well said!! Keep up the education. I will enroll in one of your classes soon. I better start packing!!
Thank you! I’ll make sure to send you a personal invite 🙂
